UCL Student Support and Wellbeing, together with The Samaritans, is offering this session which is open to all staff at UCL involved in supporting students.
This session will:
- explore the 'emotional environment' students are in at university
- raise awareness and understanding of issues that can lead to suicidal thoughts or self-harm
- explore 'warning signs' of suicide and depression
- share best practice on approaching individuals who may suffer from depression and suicidal thoughts
After this session you will
- understand the facts and myths around depression, suicide and self-harm
- know the best practice approach to disclosures of depression, suicide and self-harm
- know where to refer students and what pathways are available to students
Who should attend
You should attend if you are a member of UCL staff who has any contact with students.
Personal Tutors will find this session particularly useful.
