Sustainable UCL

Saving Energy at UCL

We’ve committed to reduce energy consumption by 40% by 2024.

We are doing this by investing in insulation and energy efficient equipment on campus and asking you our community to take action on energy use, whether that’s switching off the lights or developing more efficient research computing methods.

Some recent projects include:
  • Replacing inefficient lighting with new LED lighting in New Hall accommodation, the Institute of Archaeology and the Roberts Engineering Building.
  • Connecting UCL’s room booking system with the heating control system to ensure we are only heating rooms when they are in use.
  • Replacing boilers
  • Insulating roofs at Langton Close
  • Installing double glazing in the Chemistry building
