What is the UCL ESD Sandpit?

The UCL ESD Sandpit is a monthly meeting for staff and students interested in exchanging ideas and developing their practice. The discussions cut across disciplinary divides, exploring intersections between teaching and learning, research, and community engagement. All UCL academic and professional staff, as well as students at any level, are welcome to attend.

Each session varies, featuring thematic discussions, research presentations, workshops, and off-site visits. The Sandpit is convened by Tristan McCowan and Dima Khazem in IOE.

Next Session:

For our next Sandpit, we will be visiting The Bartlett and exploring the Sustainability and Higher Education Initiative (SHEI), led by Dr Lorenzo Lotti.

What is the SHEI?

SHEI is based at The Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources (BSEER). Its vision is to advance sustainability in higher education at both national and international levels. The initiative focuses on implementing, evaluating, and researching sustainability in teaching and learning, aiming to connect academics, alumni, students, and the wider higher education sector with sustainability efforts.
