Education for Sustainable Development Network Launch

Network aims

UCL's ESD Network launches to support the UCL Sustainability Strategy and UCL SDGs Initiative Strategy commitments on sustainable education.

At UCL every student will have the opportunity to study and be involved in sustainability by 2024.

The network aims to support staff and students to:

• Foster a network to support staff and students interested in growing Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) practice at UCL;
• Create a space for sharing resources and case studies, and for collaborating to help grow ESD at UCL;
• Identify needs and opportunities to improve ESD at UCL and share these across our community;

Join our launch

This launch invites staff and students who are passionate at providing students with a sustainable education throughout their time at UCL, both within the formal curriculum, and extra-curricular activities to join the launch.

Professor Jane Holder (Laws), Chair of the UCL ESD Steering Group, said:

“Through the Steering Group we have discovered a vast array of exceptional work already taking place across the institution to embed sustainable development into the curriculum, our induction programmes and the provision of extra-curricular opportunities for our students. We hope the network will provide staff with the opportunity to share their innovative examples of ESD so we can learn from each other.”

Join our launch to:

• Hear from VP Education, Kathleen Armour about UCL's strategic ambition, and support for ESD;
• Find out about the work of UCL's ESD steering group and working groups and their ESD strategy;
• Network with likeminded staff and students to showcase your ambitions on ESD, and any work you have taken so far to incorporate ESD across UCL
• View lightening talks from colleagues and students sharing best practice on ESD
• Discuss in groups the evolution of the Network, useful resources and how to further progress ESD work at UCL.

The ESD Network launch will be a hybrid event on Thursday 4 May 2023, 2-3pm. The in-person event at IOE, will be followed by refreshments and the opportunity to network informally.
