Environmental auditing is an essential way to determine UCL's sustainability performance. It's a vital step in making buildings, operations and behaviours more sustainable.

UCL and SOS-UK are offering a free, IEMA-certified, environmental auditing training session on 24th May from 10am-1pm, followed by two afternoons of conducting sustainability audits for UCL’s Green Impact staff engagement programme on 24th and 25th May.

What is Green Impact?

Green Impact is an environmental accreditation programme, designed to encourage, support and celebrate departments in making environmental improvements. Interested UCL staff and students volunteered to participate in the programme and have completed sustainability actions over the last few months. All departments participating in Green Impact will need an audit to verify their level of achievement…and this is where you come in!

Why should I take part?

  • Receive IEMA approved environmental auditor training with certification;

  • Improve your sustainability literacy;

  • Enhance your CV with desirable sustainability awareness for all career sectors;

  • Gain experience in auditing and sustainability;

  • Engage with academics and professional staff at UCL who are driving sustainability;

  • Meet like-minded people across the world.

Details and Schedule

You will take part in a morning of training, which will be in person on the UCL Bloomsbury campus between 10am and 1pm on Tuesday 24th May. You will then be allocated a time slot to conduct your audits, which will either be that same day in the afternoon (2-4:45pm), or the next day, Wednesday, 25th May (2.-4.45pm). Breaks and self-study time will be built in, and you will receive an IEMA-accredited certificate for completion of the audits and training!

No technical knowledge is needed as full training will be provided. All you need is to be a UCL student, have an interest in environmental issues, be able to attend the training and auditing sessions, and to apply via the form.
