Two new podcasts on climate and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have been released by the UCL SDGs Initiative.

In the first episode, Professor Mark Maslin (UCL Geography) and Dr Ilan Kelman (UCL Institute for Risk & Disaster Reduction) discuss the success of previous COPs and achieving the SDGs in a warming world and debate whether there should be a COP for each of the SDGs – not just climate – or if the different Goals and linkages between them should be discussed at different COPs.

They also ask whether having a separate Goal on climate helps or hinders action on climate change or if climate should be integrated across all 17 Goals.

In part 2, UCL PhD student Jhénelle Williams discusses her experiences as part of the Jamaican delegation at COP26, as well as the vulnerability to climate change of small-island developing states such as Jamaica.

The podcast series is hosted by Dr Priti Parikh (UCL Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction) and Professor Monica Lakhanpaul (UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health).
