Juana González-Bueno Puyal

I am currently a PhD student within the Department of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering at UCL affiliated with the Wellcome/EPSRC Centre for Interventional and Surgical Sciences (WEISS). My PhD research is in collaboration with Odin Vision focusing on the use of Artificial Intelligence for early detection of diseases in endoscopic videos.

After obtaining my Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Technical University of Madrid, I completed an MSc in Biomedical Engineering, where I focused on haptics and robotic control for medical interventions. I then went onto complete an MRes in Robotic Surgery and Image-Guided Intervention at Imperial College London. I have worked in a medical start-up for two years using deep learning to detect diseases from ophthalmic images.

My research focuses on deep learning and computer vision, particularly in the use of temporal methods to tackle the real-life problems derived from using AI in everyday clinical practice.
