Emmanouil Dimitrakakis

I obtained my combined BA and MEng in Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Patras, Greece, in 2018. My BA studies were mostly hardware-related, with some courses in software engineering, while my Master’s studies were in Systems and Control. My MEng thesis project was in surgical robotics, where I designed, implemented and evaluated a robotic tool for minimally invasive thoracic surgery.  During my studies I carried out an Erasmus+ internship within the Centre for Medical Image Computing (CMIC), UCL, where I worked on robotic and sensing devices for the Robotic Partial Nephrectomy procedure. Currently, I’m holding a Research Assistant/part-time PhD student position within the same research centre. My research is focused on the development of surgical robotic devices for keyhole neurosurgery with the goal to expand the surgeon’s capabilities and potentially introduce new procedures.
