Application fees
A standard non-refundable application processing fee applies for most graduate taught courses, with a small number of exceptions.
Standard fee
A standard fee of £90 for online applications will apply to the following types of course:
- Master’s degrees (MA, MSc, LLM, etc.)
- Postgraduate Diplomas (PG Dip)
- Postgraduate Certificates (PG Cert), except PGCE
- Graduate Diplomas (Grad Dip) and Graduate Certificates (Grad Cert).

Paying your application fee
If you need to pay an application fee, you will be able to access our payment system upon submission of your application.
If you close your browser after submitting your application but before making payment, you will simply need to log back into your Portico account to complete payment.
Application fees are non-refundable - this includes in circumstances where an application is unsuccessful.
Teacher training applicants
Applications for Primary and Secondary PGCE courses are processed through DfE Apply. There is no application fee for teacher training courses.
Applications for Early Years Initial Teacher Training are made direct to UCL. There is no application fee for teacher training programmes.

Exceptional circumstances
UCL understands that prospective students living in conflict zones, displaced by conflict, who are seeking asylum in the UK or have been granted refugee status in the UK may find it difficult to pay an application fee.
We commit to making the application process accessible to those affected.
Financial hardship
If financial hardship is the result of conflict/related displacement or related to your presence in the UK as an asylum seeker or refugee, you can apply for a fee waiver.
It is not possible to apply for an application fee waiver under any other circumstances, including if you are applying for a scholarship.
