How to apply
If you're considering applying for one of our PGCE teacher training courses, please read the following guidance carefully.
PGCE Primary, PGCE Secondary and PGCE Further Education
Applications for PGCE Primary, PGCE Secondary and PGCE Further Education courses are made via DfE Apply.
When applying for one of our courses search ‘UCL’ in the ‘choose a course’ section of your application or enter the training provider code U80.
The application cycle opens in October each year and applications are considered on a rolling basis, therefore you are encouraged to apply as early as possible, as courses will close as soon as places are filled.
Once your application has been received it will be forwarded to UCL for consideration. Applicants who are successful at the shortlist stage will be invited to attend an interview.
Application deadline
Applications for all 2026 entry teacher training courses close on 31 July 2026. If you will require a student visa in order to study at UCL, the application deadline will be 17 July 2026. If courses are full before these dates applications will close early, this information will be published on our course pages.

Teacher Degree Apprenticeship
We encourage you to find your own employing school, which has agreed to sponsor your apprenticeship with them, as this is the best way to secure employment. Let us know their details by emailing mathstda@ucl.ac.uk and we will contact them directly.
Alternatively, apprenticeship posts will be advertised on DfE Apply. When applying, you will need to choose a UCL Employing School to apply to. The list of Employing Schools will change throughout the year as new apprenticeship posts are advertised and filled.
Transferring to UCL
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept transfers into any of our teacher training courses. This is due to the short nature of the courses.
UCL is unable to accept Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) transfer credits for PGCE courses.
