About League of European Universities (LERU)
As a member of LERU, the UCL Doctoral School nominates and supports outstanding, highly motivated Doctoral candidates, in an advanced stage of their research, to attend the annual LERU Doctoral Summer School.
The Summer School is usually a week in length and is a fantastic opportunity for personal and professional development, supplementing the doctoral training you receive here at UCL. The programme and host university changes annually.
UCL Doctoral School cover the tuition fee and reasonable travel arrangements for the successful candidate(s).

LERU Summer School 2026 - KU Leuven
The 2026 LERU Doctoral Summer School will be held at the KU Leuven from 6th September – 11th September 2026. The theme for this Doctoral Summer School will be Inter-, Multi- and Transdisciplinary Perspectives on Health.
To be eligible to apply for the LERU Summer School, you need to be nominated by UCL. UCL has an internal shortlisting process, and the UCL applications process for LERU Summer School 2026 have now closed (deadline was Wednesday 17th November 2025). Applicants will be notified of the outcome in January 2026.
