Doctoral School Competitions

Once a year, the Doctoral School runs a series of competitions open to all UCL postgraduate researchers. Entrants are invited to submit entries into any of the following competitions:

• Research Images As Art/Art Images as Research
• Research Poster
• Blog
• Podcast
• Vlog

Competition entrants will be invited to attend the Competitions Showcase where their entries will be displayed to their peers and the wider research community, and they will also be invited to attend the awards ceremony that follows. Competition winners and runners up will receive a cash prize and certificate.

As part of the annual Doctoral School Competitions, the Student Funding Office also offers two additional cash prizes for entries from current recipients of the following UCL scholarships: 

• UCL’s Research Excellence Scholarship (RES)
• Research Opportunity Scholarships (ROS)
• Graduate Research Scholarship (GRS)
• Overseas Research Scholarship (ORS)
• Cross Disciplinary Scholarship (GXD or RXD)

Please note the additional Student Funding Office prize is for one winner and one runner up chosen from across all 5 competitions.
 

UCL Three Minute Thesis

The UCL 3 Minute Thesis is organised by the UCL Students’ Union. Faculty heats take place from February to May and winners from Faculty heats take part in the UCL final, which coincides with the Competitions Showcase.
