There is a clash between compulsory events (i.e. teaching) where there are no alternatives.

Do not submit your saved module selections if you have a clash. Change the module selected, save, and re-check the timetable. Your department can help you understand your timetable. If there are clashes, check with your department before submitting your choices.

Where events such as tutorials or practicals clash, there may be alternatives that allow you to attend one clash-free. Consult your department if you are unsure about a clash-free option.

This is for in-person teaching events. Those at UCL East have a thicker, darker border. Select the location icon for each event to view the location.

If you have events at different campuses on the same day, ensure that you have enough travel time. We recommend an hour to travel between UCL Bloomsbury and UCL East. If you have additional accessibility needs, you may wish to allow longer.

The event will be delivered online.

Most timetabling for UCL East won't be visible until Summer 2026. Check your draft timetable regularly to review any potential clashes.

There are at least two parallel events for a module taking place at the same time. If you select this module, you will be allocated to one of the groups.

If you see multiple subgroup events for a module (e.g. Tutorials 1, 2, 3, 4), you will only need to attend one of these.

Events unrelated to modular teaching may be attached to a course, or a whole department. If you are unsure what such events are, please contact your department in the first instance.

Please contact the relevant department for advice on the events that will run for this module. You can locate module contact details via the Module Catalogue.

Please do not print your timetable. Information may be updated and is subject to change. We encourage students to check their timetable regularly in case of changes.

• For continuing students: 05 April to 07 May.
• For new students joining in September 2026/27: from 14 September, once you have completed pre-enrolment.
• Students with a January start date will be able to select modules for the next year from mid-December.

Your department will offer information about your course for the upcoming year.

Continuing students will be able to check optional module choices for the following year from mid-March and choose from April.

You will not have access to the module selection link if:

• All the modules for your next year are compulsory. (You can still view your list for the next year on the My Modules area in Portico.)
• You have already submitted your module choices. (You can still change your modules after submission within certain deadlines.)

Please contact your department for details. If you are eligible for the module, they can add it to your record for consideration by the module teaching department.

Continuing students can amend optional and elective module choices up to 15 May.

It may be possible to request a change to your module selection from 13 July. We will do our best to support students who need to make alternative selections.

However, it is harder to secure places as initial allocations are complete.

September and January starters can continue to monitor My Studies in Portico, which will detail the approval status of modules.

Continuing students will receive a notification inviting them to log into Portico from mid-July onwards to check the approval status of their module selection. (In 2026, this will be 13 July.)

We try to get as many students as possible on to their first choice of modules. With over 50,000 students and a complex system of courses and modules, this is not always possible. These decisions must be considered final.

If this happens, you will be able to reselect an alternative module.

If you have outstanding assessments from before your interruption (i.e. resits) and are attending modules after interruption which relate to the same year of study, you will not need to take part in 2026/27 continuing student module selection.

If you will return before 15 May 2026 and will take your next full year of study in 2026/27, you will receive an invite to select your modules from 13 April to 15 May.

If you are due back after 15 May 2026, you will be invited to select from 13 July. Alternatively, you can contact your department for assistance.

Please ensure you have submitted your interruption application. Once it's approved, you will be notified, and we will remove you from module selection for the next academic year.

If your change is approved, contact your home department. They will assist you with module selection so that your modules are suitable for your next year.

If the decision for your change is pending, please contact your department once a decision has been made.

Please complete the Portico task for modular-flexible students to 'opt out' of module selection. You should then stop receiving module-related communications and requirements for the current cycle.

Students external to UCL should follow the procedures for module selection at their home university. UCL students wishing to select an intercollegiate module should refer to Intercollegiate Study.

You will be able to select your modules from 13 April to 15 May.

Students with a January start date will be invited to select modules from mid-December. You should contact your home department with any questions or issues relating to module selection.

Module selection for continuing students will re-open again from 13 July.
