Studying Abroad in a new country can feel disorienting at first, and UCL's International Welcome is here to help you settle into the UCL community.
Moving to a new country can be a big change. To help you settle into your new home at UCL and in London, we have put together both Pre-Arrival online events and In Person events for our Internaitonal Affiliate/Study Abroad Students. These events aim to help you feel confident and prepared for your time here.

Before You Arrive
Pre-Arrival Webinars - Affiliate/Study Abroad Students
The webinars provide essential information before you arrive at UCL, featuring current international students and staff in a podcast format streamed online. Topics will cover frequently asked questions from new affiliate/study abroad students and your submitted questions.
We will be running Webinars on Monday 08 December 2025 and Wednesday 10 December 2025.
Visa Advice Drop In Sessions
The Visa Advice and Complicance team is currently holding Online Drop-in Sessions every Tuesday and Thursday for students who have questions relating to their visas. It’s a great way to get to speak to the visa team and get your questions answered in real-time!
International Student Orientation Course
The International Student Orientation Course is an online module to complete if you want a better understanding of life in London and at UCL. Work through the topics most relevant or interesting to you, and smooth your start at UCL and in London.
Student Visa Responsibility Course
The Student Visa Responsibilities Course provides information about your responsibilities as Student Visa holder during your time at UCL.
*You will need to complete Pre-enrolment to access both the Visa and Orientation Courses
International Welcome - Affiliate/Study Abroad and International Students
International Welcome for January starters will be taking place on Friday 09 January. New International Students from all levels of study can participate in a variety of Seminars and Q&A Talks which provide a great chance to find out more about services and resource at UCL, and make connections before the start of Term.
Safety Seminar
The International Student Safety Seminars are run by the UCL Security and Safety Team to help keep new Affiliate/Study Abroad and International students safe during their time at UCL and in London.
Library Seminar
The International Student Library Seminars give new Affiliate/Study Abroad and International students information on the UCL Library services, from using library study spaces, accessing their collections and online library, and other services they provide.
Academic Communications Centre Seminar
The International Student Academic Communication Seminar provides Affiliate/Study Abroad and International studentsstudents of all levels of study with information and resources on academic help availalable at UCL so they feel prepared for their time at the university.
International Student Q&A Talks - Affiliate/Study Abroad Students
The International Affiliate/Study Abroad Student Q&A Talks provide the chance to hear from current international UCL students about their experiences, and ask them any questions you have.
Affiliate/Study Abroad Student Mixer
The Affiliate/Study Abroad Student Mixers are run for all new affiliate/Study Abroad students starting at UCL and give you a chance to meet other UCL affiliate students.
When Should I Arrive?
Welcome Events will run on Friday 09 January 2026. We recommend arriving during this week to give yourself enough time to settle in before the term starts, although arriving earlier is optional.
For students staying in UCL Accommodation, you may need to submit an Early Arrival Request. This can be done on the UCL Accommodation Portal after you have accepted your offer.
