Affiliate Student Events
Get involved in our bespoke Affiliate events during your time at UCL! We have something for everyone and all events are free to attend.
Affiliate Student Experience Events
During your time at UCL, we encourage you to get involved in as many activities as you can. To support this, the Affiliate Student Experience team runs regular events just for Affiliates throughout the academic year. Come along with friends or to make friends and join us for quizzing, crafting and getting to know your fellow Affiliates!
Term 2 events will begin on Wednesday 14 January with a ‘pub’ quiz and we’ll have Affiliate events taking place during Student Support and Wellbeing Services’ Beat the January Blues Campaign and the Student’s Union’s International Festival. Check out what we have planned below. All our events are free to attend but you do need to register - you’ll be able to sign up from 5 January 2026 and times and locations will also be confirmed during the first weeks of Term 2.
We look forward to seeing you there!
January events
A “pub” quiz to test your knowledge and make new friends with fellow Affiliates at UCL. We’ll put your general knowledge and your knowledge of British culture to the test with fun and challenging questions. You can come as a team or join one when you arrive. Refreshments will be provided – although it will be “pub” quiz style, no alcohol will be served at this event.
Event time: 1.30pm to 2.30pm, Wednesday 14 January
Event location: Elvin Hall, Institute of Education
As part of Beat the January Blues, Affiliate Student Experience and International Student Support are excited to bring you the British Museum Scavenger Hunt! Meet Affiliates and International Students and explore the world's first national public museum home to around 8 million artefacts.
You'll be split into groups and given a list of artefacts to find around the museum, with prizes for the fastest team and most creative team. There will also be a Social Media Influence Award for an invidual student. A full briefing will be given on the day.
You can come with a group or on your own. The event is a briliant way to meet Affiliate and International students at UCL and get the chance to explore a historic London museum. We expect the event to last around an hour (once we are in the museum) but you may stay longer if you wish.
Event time: 2pm to 3.30pm
Event location: Outside the Student Centre (meeting point)
How to join us: meet us outside the Student Centre at 2pm and we will walk to the British Museum (approximately 10 minute's walk). For those who want to return to campus with us, we'll be walking back from the museum to the Student Centre at 3.30pm once the event has finished.
At this event, we’ll provide you with postcards to write back home to friends and family about your time so far at UCL. Bring a pen and join us for a relaxing afternoon with fellow Affiliates to reflect on your experiences so far. This is a drop in session so you can join us at any point, if you don't finish writing your postcard during the event you can take it home to complete there. Please note, we are unable to provide stamps or post your postcard for you.
Event time: 2.15pm to 3.45pm, Wednesday 28 January
Event location: Room B32, Gordon Square (26)
February events
Join us and your fellow Affiliates for a cosy afternoon of painting coasters and bookmarks. Perfect for holding a cup of tea or for keeping your place in your favourite book. No prior skills or knowledge will be required, we'll provide all the materials you'll need. Just bring your creativity and we’ll provide the rest!
If you can't attend the full event due to teaching or other commitments, please feel free to come along for as long as you can.
Event time: 2.15pm to 3.45pm, Wednesday 11 February
Event location: W4.01, Institute of Education (IOE)
As part of International Festival Week, this event brings together current Affiliates and UCL students who will be studying abroad next year. The Mixer is a great change to meet UCL students and share your experiences of studying abroad, and you may even meet students who'll be studying abroad at your university next year!
Event time: 2.30pm to 4.30pm, Wednesday 25 January
Event location: Jeffery Hall, Institute of Education (IOE)
