Fundamental
If you are new to an area this is a good starting point to build core knowledge and confidence.
ExtendED Learning activity code: EXT0071
The Podcast Challenge offers sessions at all levels of the ExtendED Learning Framework. You will start with sessions at the Fundamental level followed by those at Practice. The winners of the Practice level will then take part in a Stretch session.
Content: This hands-on experience equips you with practical digital skills, critical thinking, and strategies for managing complex conversations. By the end, you’ll produce a script in cross-disciplinary teams for a compelling podcast episode that demonstrates your ability to engage thoughtfully with nuanced subjects—preparing you for impactful dialogue in academic, professional, and global contexts.
Plus, the winning team will get the exclusive opportunity to record their podcast at a studio with the guidance of industry professionals which will be aired as part of UCL’s The Bridge Podcast.
Why take part in this activity? Learn how to design and create a podcast that tackles challenging and sensitive topics with confidence and creativity. You’ll explore podcasting fundamentals, impartial chairing, effective communication on difficult issues, and creative audio storytelling.

ExtendED Learning activity code: EXT0013
Content: The Working in a Global World series is designed to help you make the most of your time at UCL to become cross-culturally competent. This is the cross cultural communication strand of the series that explores differences that can lead to misunderstandings and what we can do to reduce them.
Why take part in this activity? This is for students who are interested in becoming a more impactful 21st century citizen and learning the skills required to make you more effective and valuable in the workplace.
When: 19 May - 28 May. The series comprises of 4 separate sessions where it is mandatory to attend the prerequisite session on 19 May in order to participate in the remaining sessions.

Content: If you’re new to ExtendED Learning or not sure where to start, the ExtendED Conference is a two-day event offering an introduction to the ExtendED Learning programme.
Why take part in this activity? The conference is designed as a space to help you build confidence, bringing together sessions from across all the Extended Learning strands through discussion, reflection, and hands-on activities all whilst offering you a chance to experience a conference setting.
When: 19-20 May 2026, full day
