Am I eligible for Covid Mitigation?
Find out whether you are eligible for the 2019-20 and/ or 2020-21 Covid Mitigations.
- The guidance below explains how to understand which Covid 19 ‘No Detriment’ rules apply in different scenarios.
- The 2019/20 No Detriment policy applies to modules taught or assessed in 2019/20 (i.e. where assessment outcomes are recorded against a 2019/20 module record). This includes many students who were in their first, second, third or fourth year in 2019/20 and who are graduating in 2021/22.
- The extended borderline applied only to 2020/21 finalists considered for classification on the basis of modules assessed in the 2020/21 academic session.
Phasing out of No Detriment in 2021/22
There are no new ‘No Detriment’ arrangements for 2021/22.
If you were a UCL student in 2019/20, you may be eligible for the 2019/20 No Detriment arrangements. For example:
- If you are graduating from a 3-year Bachelors in 2021/22, you may have taken a capstone project in 2019/20 which will be weighted at 0 in your classification.
- If you are graduating from a 4- or 5-year Bachelors or Integrated Masters in 2021/22, you may be eligible for the ‘best 50%’ rule for modules assessed in 2019/20.
- If you are a taught postgraduate Flexible/ Modular student, you may be eligible for the ‘best 50%’ rule for modules assessed in 2019/20.
If you are fully enrolled on the 2021/22 academic session, you are not eligible for the 2020/21 extended borderline.

The extended borderline applied to 2020/21 finalists i.e. final year students who are were awarded a degree in the 2020/21 academic session.
