These courses help you develop the academic skills, language and knowledge required for successful study at UCL.
UCL offers separate Pre-sessional English courses for students preparing for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. These intensive courses focus on the academic language and practices you will use during your degree, including reading complex texts, participating in seminars, carrying out research and producing academic writing.
If you successfully complete a Pre-sessional English course and achieve the required level in your assessments, you will meet UCL’s English language requirement for your degree programme.
These Pre-sessional English courses – offered by the Centre for Languages & International Education (CLIE) – are for students joining 10 of UCL’s 11 faculties.
If you hold an offer from the UCL Institute of Education (IOE), read more about the Preparation for Academic Studies in Higher Education (PASHE) course.
