The Oral Examination applies to all CLIE language modules except Translation Skills, Art Historians, Academic Writing in English for Non-Native Speakers and Academic Writing in English for Native Speakers.
Oral Examinations take place in April and May 2026, online using Microsoft Teams.
You choose and book your own Oral Examination slot from those available; slots can only be booked on the CLIE Language Modules website from 1 March 2026 (after the Central Assessment Timetable has been published).
- You will need to login using your UCL user ID and password.
- Follow the onscreen instructions to select and book a date and time. Once you have booked you will recieve a confirmation email.
- Please make sure you book a slot for your Oral Examination by 30 March 2026, otherwise a slot will be chosen and booked for you.

Class start
CLIE language module classes start in the week beginning Monday 12 October 2026 (UCL week 7).
Schedule
Classes are scheduled around the availability of the students registered for each module, using information on the UCL Online Timetable, if you have the module selected on Portico then you should see your allocated group(s) in your personal timetable.
Online timetable
From mid September, you should see your allocated group(s) for your module in your personal timetable on the UCL Online Timetable, where you can see the class location. We recommend you check the UCL Online Timetable shortly before your class each week in case of any updates.
Modules appear on the UCL Online Timetable the day after you select them in Portico.
After this you are then allocated to a specific CLIE language module class(es). Allocations are done automatically on a daily basis; in cases where the is a timetable clash, CLIE will allocate you to a class manually based on your other UCL classes.

- Online classes/workshops: Your tutor will be in touch with you with joining instructions closer to the first class/workshop.
