About Katie

What was your experience of further or higher education like?

I studied Japanese and Management at university in London, with a year abroad. It was an amazing experience, learning a different language and culture alongside developing practical skills in Business. At times, the workload could be quite intense and a little overwhelming, but it helped me learn how to prioritise and meet deadlines, which has been an invaluable skill throughout my career.

What working achievements or initiatives are you most proud of?

I am most proud of arranging a Summer Intensive Ballet Programme during the pandemic, that was fully online. Finding ways to make the content interesting, engaging and practical to do via Zoom, making it work in different time zones with guest ballet artists from all over the world and scheduling classes for many different abilities was challenging but, in the end, it went really well, and the students all gave lovely feedback.

If you could tell your younger self one thing, what would it be?

I would tell my younger self to not compare yourself to others. Everyone is a unique person with different abilities and strengths, so just focus on and enjoy your own growth and achievements without comparing them to other people’s!

What would it surprise people to know about you?

It might surprise you to know that I am also a salsa teacher!
