Register with a GP (doctor)
To access this service, you need to be registered with a General Practitioner, also known as a GP.
UCL has a longstanding relationship with Ridgmount Practice which has a wide catchment area covering most of London. This allows students to remain registered with the same GP if they change accommodation during their time at UCL. Ridgmount Practice is experienced in student health.
If you are not yet registered with a GP doctor, please see below. The NHS also provides a helpful search tool, which will allow you to find a GP surgery near you.

Introduction to UCL Counselling Services
Please note:
Our official name is 'Counselling Services' (not the old one mentioned in the video below!)
Counselling Services offer up to 6 free counselling sessions per year, from 1st August - 31st July, for all students who are actively engaged in study at UCL.

Waiting times for counselling
Our waiting time for an initial appointment after registering is two to three weeks. This can sometimes rise in times of high demand. If we feel you are at higher risk, you will be prioritised.
All students are triaged within 24 hours of registering with Counselling Services. During triaging, if we feel you may be at higher risk, we will contact you by phone, email and/or text.
NB: From term three onwards, final-year undergraduates are triaged for Single Session Therapy (SST) and at the end of the UCL academic year master’s students are also triaged for SST. In SST we work in a focused way to help you deal with your most pressing concern in one session. Offering SST means we can provide support and help with the transition from university, ensuring that you receive support before your time at UCL ends (Please be aware that we are unable to provide you with an Extenuating Circumstances letter after your single session appointment. Should you require this, please do contact your GP).
