London is a big city and the experience of living in London can be overwhelming if you are not used to finding your way around the capital. With a few pointers from your Student Adviser on how to keep yourself safe around here, we’re hoping you will soon feel like a true Londoner and you will love exploring the city just as much as we do.
The recording will be available on Moodle from 25 October 2024.
Expanding Your Social Network – 15 min recording
Here, at UCL, we pride ourselves on our thriving community and we always welcome new students with open arms. We are aware, however, that it can be difficult at times to get to know new people and make friends, not only on your course or across the university, but also in a city that may be new for many of you. Hear your Student Adviser in this recording talk about ways to expand your social network and cultivate a sense of belonging at UCL and the Bartlett.

Who am I?
- About Pani
What was your experience of Further/Higher education like?
My university experience was such a monumental time in my life. I really cherish those memories. It was the first time I was totally independent and focusing purely on a subject I was interested in. It was exciting to meet so many people who had their own experiences that were so different to mine. I also learnt so much, not just from my academic studies, but also from the people I met and experiences I had.
Although university came with its challenges and could be difficult, it was truly a special and valuable time in my life.
What do you like most about your work as a Student Adviser?
I find working with and supporting students incredibly rewarding because it allows me to meet a diverse group of individuals and build meaningful connections with them. Helping students navigate and solve any issues they face gives me a sense of fulfilment, knowing that I'm making a positive impact on their university experience. Watching them flourish and grow as they settle into university life is truly inspiring and reinforces my passion for this role.
What would surprise people to know about you?
I love George Michael. Like, a lot.
