Budgeting Tips – 15 min recording

Finances can be tricky to organise, especially if you haven’t had to handle your own money before. This short recording will provide you with some useful tips on budgeting so that there are no issues throughout your student journey or beyond.

Kristina Labanauskaite, Student Adviser (PGT)

Safety in London – 15 min recording

London is a big city and the experience of living in London can be overwhelming if you are not used to finding your way around the capital. With a few pointers from your Student Adviser on how to keep yourself safe around here, we’re hoping you will soon feel like a true Londoner and you will love exploring the city just as much as we do.

The recording will be available on Moodle from 25 October 2024.

Expanding Your Social Network – 15 min recording

Here, at UCL, we pride ourselves on our thriving community and we always welcome new students with open arms. We are aware, however, that it can be difficult at times to get to know new people and make friends, not only on your course or across the university, but also in a city that may be new for many of you. Hear your Student Adviser in this recording talk about ways to expand your social network and cultivate a sense of belonging at UCL and the Bartlett.

Who am I?

About Amalia

What was your experience of Further/Higher education like?

I really enjoyed my time in higher education. I studied at five universities across three countries and loved interacting with different educational systems, cultures and languages. I made friends for life, from all over the world, and learned and experienced things I would never have imagined I could until I started university.

What do you like most about your work as a Student Adviser?

I find interacting with students on a daily basis very inspiring as I get to meet not only brilliant minds but also kind souls. In a fast-paced environment like the one at UCL, no day is the same and being able to help and hopefully make a positive difference in students’ lives is something to look forward to every week.

What's a surprising or interesting fact about yourself?

As a teenager, I used to ride motorcycles competitively. I was even a junior national champion in my country! Strangely enough, I don’t currently have a driving licence, but am still a big fan of the sport.
