The arrangements outlined here are made with the following Santander Universities branches: 

(i) Santander at 164-167 Tottenham Court Road, W1T 7JE

Opening times: Monday – Friday, 09:30 – 15:00

Required documentation

Identification

• Non-EU students: BRP, or passport and valid visa
• EU students: National ID card or passport

Letter from UCL

• Not required – you can just show your UCL student ID card, which you obtain at enrolment
• No proof of address is required

Facilities

There are two bank account options available to you:

Essentials Current Account

• You will receive a contactless Visa debit card for making all purchases and withdrawing cash from cash machines
• You can pay bills and have your income paid into your account
• You can set up a direct debit
• 24/7 access to your account using Online, Mobile and Telephone banking
• You can opt in and out of receiving bank statements
• £1 monthly account fee applies

Basic Current Account 

• You will receive a cash card (for using in cash machines) and a top-up debit card (for spending in shops and online, but not contactless payments or subscription payments)
• You can transfer money between the two cards using online and mobile banking and Santander cash machines
• 24/7 access to your account using Online, Mobile and Telephone banking
• You can opt in and out of receiving bank statements
• There is no monthly fee associated with this account

Appointments

• To open an account, please visit the branch to make an appointment.
• Your account will be opened on the same day as your appointment in most cases, and you will be provided with your account details for transferring money into the account immediately. 
• These arrangements are made with the Santander branch on the UCL campus or the 164-167 Tottenham Court Road branch. Arrangements with other Santander branches will vary.
