Support for students affected by sexual violation

10 October 2018

UCL is partnered with organisations who can provide support to anyone affected by sexual violence and/or harassment.

sexual violation

UCL Student Support and Wellbeing have partnered with both SurvivorsUK and Rape Crisis to provide support to students who have been affected by sexual violation.

SurvivorsUK

If you identify as male, non-binary, trans or have identified as male in the past and you have been affected by sexual violation, SurvivorsUK can support you. SurvivorsUK provide an Independent Sexual Violence Adviser (ISVA) once per month to meet with UCL students who identify as the above.

The ISVA can guide you through your legal options regarding your experience and is there to listen to you. Appointments are confidential and in a safe environment based off campus. To book an appointment with a SurvivorsUK ISVA, please contact Student Support and Wellbeing or call us on +44 (0) 20 7679 0100. You are not required to provide details, only that you would like to book an appointment with the SurvivorsUK ISVA.

Rape Crisis

If you are female and experienced sexual violation, Rape Crisis is an organisation that can support you. Through our partnership, an outreach worker is at UCL once per month available for one to one appointments. The outreach worker can provide you with support and guidance on your options. You can talk about your needs and how you feel what kind of support would be helpful to you.

The outreach worker will support you in a non-judgmental way in a safe and confidential space. If you would like to access this support, please contact Student Support and Wellbeing or call us on +44 (0) 20 7679 0100. You are not required to provide details, only that you would like to book an appointment with the outreach worker.

You can also access the Rape Crisis advice line for free - details can be found here.

Confidentiality

Please note that these sessions are confidential; any discussions with the Survivors UK or Rape Crisis will not be shared with UCL. As such, if you require UCL to provide further support, for instance to make adjustments to your study or your UCL accommodation, you will need to make an appointment to speak to a SSW adviser.

For more information on support at UCL, reporting incidents and how to make an appointment with an SSW adviser, please see our support pages.
