International Student Welcome

Studying in a new country can feel disorienting at first, and UCL's International Welcome is here to help you settle into the UCL community.

Moving to a new country can be a big change. To help you settle into your new home at UCL and in London, we have put together both Pre-Arrival online events and In Person events during the International Welcome Week. These events aim to help International Students feel confident and prepared for their time here.

*Pre Arrival and International Week Events will be available for Registration July 2025.

Before You Arrive

Pre-Arrival Webinars

The webinars provide essential information before you arrive at UCL, featuring current international students and staff in a podcast format streamed online. Topics will cover frequently asked questions from new international students and your submitted questions.

Visa Advice Webinar

This session will give you information and advice about the immigration and visa process, and answer any visa questions you may have in preparation for starting at UCL in September 2025.

International Student Orientation Course

The International Student Orientation Course is an online module to complete if you want a better understanding of life in London and at UCL. Work through the topics most relevant or interesting to you, and smooth your start at UCL and in London.

Student Visa Responsibility Course

The Student Visa Responsibilities Course provides information about your responsibilities as Student Visa holder during your time at UCL.

*You will need to complete Pre-enrolment to access both the Visa and Orientation Courses

Careers Seminar

The International Student Careers Seminars give information on UCL Careers services and how to pursue a career in the UK as an international student both during and after your studies.

Faith and Religion Seminar

The International Student Religion + Faith Seminar gives new international students resources on navigating religious beliefs at UCL and London.

International Student Q&A Sessions

The International Student Q&A Talks provide the chance to hear from current international UCL students about their experiences, and ask them any questions you have. We hold bespoke talks for UG, PG, and Affiliate Students.

Affiliate Mixers

The International Student Affiliate Mixers are run for all new affiliate/exchange students starting at UCL and give you a chance to meet other UCL affiliate students.

When Should I Arrive?

You don't have to arrive early to attend these events, but you want to make sure that you arrive with enough time to settle in before term starts. International Week events run throughout the week of 15 September and you are Welcome to join at any point!

For students staying in UCL Accommodation, you may need to submit an Early Arrival Request. This can be done on the UCL Accommodation Portal after you have accepted your offer.

You can find further accommodation information here.
