UCL Transition Mentors 2025/26 - Applications now open!

Applications are now open for Transition and Senior Mentors on the Transition Mentor Programme 2025/26. The Programme supports all first year undergraduate students in their transition to university.

Are you a friendly, supportive and organised UCL student interested in a paid role mentoring a group of first year students from September to November 2025? Applications for the Transition Mentor Programme are now open!

The role

Transition Mentors provide peer support to first year undergraduate students through regular group mentoring meetings and peer-assisted learning sessions. Transition Mentors work to support a group of approximately ten first-year students on a weekly basis throughout Term One, delivering weekly group sessions, in person. Mentors act as a key contact for support and signpost student services that first-year students require.

Senior Mentor positions are also open for applications, but only students who have previously acted as a Transition or Senior Mentor are eligible to apply.

The UCL Student Welcome & Induction Team are looking for enthusiastic, committed students who can demonstrate the following qualities:

  • Good personal organisation
  • Reliable and responsible
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to empathise with the needs and demands of first year students
  • Familiarity with your department and UCL as a whole
  • Ability to support academic discussions in a collaborative manner
