Moodle Training Course

Mentors and Senior Mentors complete a compulsory online Moodle training module.

The module aims to provide information and support for Transition Mentors and Senior Mentors prior to starting the role in September and also is a base for information that Transition Mentors and Senior Mentors can return to throughout Term One.

Online Training Workshop

Transition Mentors attend a training workshop that builds on the Moodle Training Module. The Transition Team provide Transition Mentors with all the essential information to lead a mentor group successfully and cover a range of scenarios that Transition Mentors may be faced with in their role. The training is also an opportunity for Transition Mentors to ask questions and hear from the Student Support & Wellbeing Team for more information on signposting Mentees that may be struggling.

Senior Mentors attend a training workshop that outlines the administrative processes, support protocols and possible scenarios that may arise as part of the programme. The training is also a opportunity for Senior Mentors to ask questions and try out the systems with support of the Transition Team.

Ongoing Support

Transition Mentors and Senior Mentors will have the support of the Transition Team throughout their recruitment, training and time spent working on the Transition Mentor Programme. 

Senior Mentors provide support to their dedicated Transition Mentors throughout Term One. The Senior Mentor will be the first point of contact and can support with departmental specific questions, signposting, best practice and advice for mentoring. All Senior Mentors have previously been a Transition Mentor and have excellent knowledge and lived understanding of the Transition Mentor role. 

Support resources, session materials and a FAQ document is hosted on the Mentor Platform for all Senior Mentors and Transition Mentors to access at any point in Term One.
