Complete the Introductory Programme

A new interactive online learning experience, the Introductory Programme will help you get to know UCL's values, community and achievements.

We recommend that you complete the Introductory Programme before you start your programme. You should be able to access it once you've completed pre-enrolment and have your UCL user ID and password.

Find out more about the Introductory Programme.

Complete our other online induction modules

We're currently working on other induction modules to help you get ready for the 2020/21 academic year. We'll let you know when they're available.

Visit this page for updates over the coming weeks.

Plan your journey

If you're able to come onto campus, figure out how you're getting to your accommodation and how you'll get to the main UCL campus.

Plan your budget

It's never too early to think about how to manage your money during your programme. Student life doesn't need to be expensive, and there are lots of easy ways to save money as a student.

Let Student Support and Wellbeing (SSW) know if you're disabled or have a long-term health condition

You should get in touch with SSW if you are disabled or have any kind of long-term physical or mental health condition, if you haven't already declared this on your application to study.

This will help ensure that the right support is in place during your programme - the SSW team will get in touch with all new students who are disabled or have a long-term health condition later in the summer to discuss any support arrangements needed.

Look into your childcare options

If you're a student who is also a parent or guardian with caring responsibilities, we recommend that you research your childcare options and make arrangements in advance of starting your programme.

The UCL Day Nursery has a limited number of places available for children of UCL students.

International students

Prepare for your arrival in the UK and quarantine

Some of our international students may need to quarantine for 14 days on arrival in the UK, if they come onto campus. If you need to do this, spend some time planning and make sure you know what's expected of you.

Read full information for UCL students who need to quarantine.

International students in UCL halls should read our guidance carefully to plan their arrival and make us aware of this.

Read more information on the UCL Accommodation website.

Apply for travel insurance

If you're able to come onto campus, it's recommended that you get travel insurance to cover your journey to the UK.

Ensure you bring any medication or prescriptions

If your course is 3 to 6 months long and you are on regular medication, you are advised to bring sufficient supplies for the duration of your programme of study. Students on a programme lasting more than 6 months should be able to get treatment and medication if needed from the NHS.

If you have any pre-existing medical conditions, it is also strongly recommended that you ask your current doctor to write a letter explaining these and any medication you are receiving. You can pass this letter on to your GP in the UK once you're registered, as this will help ensure consistency in your treatment.
