Affiliate students

You are an 'affiliate student' if you are coming to UCL as a student on a Study Abroad (JYA), Erasmus, Independent Affiliate or other exchange programme.

The International Student Orientation Programme (ISOP) will take place in the week commencing Monday 17 September 2018.

During ISOP you will have the opportunity to complete your in-person enrolment, attend the 'We Are All Global' talks designed specifically for our new international students (both EU and overseas), and participate in a variety of social events organised by Students' Union UCL. You will also have the opportunity to meet with your department(s) at UCL to discuss module selection.

ISOP is a busy few days and you may decide you don't want to attend all of the social events – this is your choice and, although you are encouraged to attend, these are optional. It is however important that you attend the 'We Are All Global' talks on Tuesday 18 September, your enrolment appointment on Wednesday 19 September, and the 'Meet Your Department' session on Thursday 20 September.

‘We Are All Global’ – Tuesday 18 September 2018

This full day of talks, organised by the International Student Support team, is designed to help make the transition into life in the UK and studying at UCL as smooth as possible. There will be a number of interactive sessions which will be scheduled throughout the whole day and you will be able to register for these nearer the time as part of the pre-enrolment process. The sessions are free of charge and it is highly recommended that you attend.

Enrolment – Wednesday 19 September 2018 (by appointment)

Enrolment for you will take place on Wednesday 19 September. You will be required to enrol in person by appointment and you will be able to select a slot nearer the time as part of the pre-enrolment process.

Meet Your Department – Thursday 20 September 2017

You will have the opportunity to visit your admitting department on arrival and discuss course choices with your Affiliate Tutor and/or administrator. Departments tend to organise these meetings in different ways, the session may be organised in groups or one to one slots. Your department may get in touch with you if they have made alternative arrangements for your welcome session. Please ensure that you check your emails regularly and keep an eye on your department's website for further information.

If you are taking modules in two or more departments, please attend the 'Meet your Department' session for your main admitting department. You are also encouraged to get in contact with the other department(s) where you intend to take courses. Please see our departmental contact list for further information.

Social events organised by Students' Union UCL

ISOP social events, organised by Students' Union UCL, are the perfect opportunity to meet other new international students and immerse yourself into life at UCL. Social events are an optional part of ISOP, however we would encourage you to attend at least some of these events. Full details will be available on the Students' Union UCL website closer to the time, including information on how to book tickets.

Students on a Tier 4 visa

You will need to collect your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) before you attend your in-person enrolment appointment. It is recommended that you arrive at UCL at least the day before the 'We Are All Global' talks to ensure you have sufficient time to collect your BRP. You will be contacted by email with further instructions on how and where you can collect your BRP nearer the time.

Accommodation during ISOP

If you are staying in UCL managed accommodation and you would like to attend ISOP, you will need to submit an Early Arrival Request on the accommodation portal to arrive from 15 September 2018. If you are staying in other student halls you should follow the information provided to request an earlier move in date if possible.
