UCL and the Metropolitan Police ran in-person international student safety seminars for new students in September 2021, to help keep students safe during their time at UCL and in London.
International student safety seminars
The safety of our students at UCL is of the utmost importance and we want to make sure that they are safe, secure and happy during their time in London.
As a new international student, this may be their first time in London and the UK, and it may even be their first time leaving your home country. We understand that this can be a scary feeling which is why UCL has teamed up with London's Metropolitan Police to deliver in-person international student safety seminars as part of their orientation.
In these safety seminars, we discussed the following topics:
- Safety around campus;
- Safety in London;
- Safety at night;
- Safety of personal property such as phones and bikes;
- Online fraud and scams;
- Hate crimes;
Students had the chance to participate in polls and ask questions anonymously with their mobile phones throughout to ensure they get the most from these seminars.
The International Student Safety Seminars have now finished but we will be publishing videos which were filmed during the seminars for students who wish to watch.
