This summer, Study Abroad will once again offer a range of tuition fee free opportunities at partner institutions through our Tuition Fee Free Summer scheme!
We are pleased to announce the tuition fee free places for summer 2020. Similar to previous academic years, we are offering various programmes at our partner institutions in Australasia, and this year we have managed to add two new exciting destinations: Mexico and the USA .
How to apply
Tuition waived places are limited, hence UCL students will have to submit an application to the UCL Study Abroad team first.
- Step 1: research the available options below and check your own eligibility criteria
- Step 2: choose maximum 3 institutions you are interested in. You will have to list them in the order of your preference.
- Step 3: log on to Portico and locate the "Short-term Global Opportunities" tab in the top menu
- Step 4: fill in & submit the application outlining the reasons for applying for a summer place and your perceived benefits for Short-Term Mobility.
Application deadline: extended to Friday 31st of January 2020 at 23.59pm.

Programme description: The University of Adelaide's July Winter School offers international students the opportunity to study an intensive academic program with local and international students and immerse themselves in Australian culture. - Shanghai Jiao Tong University Global Summer School
Programme description: The SJTU Global Summer Programme provides excellent opportunities for students to learn about China through academic and cultural immersion. A wide range of courses in various disciplines are provided, including Public Policy and City Governance, Brain Science and Technology, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Culture and Discovering Chinese Creativity, each of which will be accompanied with Chinese language courses for both beginners and intermediate learners.
In addition to academic lectures, local excursions, cultural activities and field trips are also available for international participants. From these extracurricular activities, students will learn more about Chinese culture, history and politics. The Global Summer School offers a chance to experience Chinese culture first-hand and to make friends from China and around the world.

- Zhejiang University International Summer School
Programme description: The Zhejiang University (ZJU) Innovation & Entrepreneurship Summer School is a unique three-week program which offers participants an opportunity to understand entrepreneurial China in one of China's most dynamic growth areas.
Combined fieldwork with courses, the program encourages participants to observe and learn from the real business settings via company visits, networking events with entrepreneurs and tours searching for business opportunities. By the end of the program, students will be required to create their own China business initiative and present it to the final judges as part of their assessment.
The curriculum is designed to cover different facets of entrepreneurship including the cultural issue, the economic issue, the marketing issue as well as specific areas such as intellectual property and big data. Cultural immersion sessions are also offered throughout the program.

- Chinese University of Hong Kong International Summer School
Programme description: The International Summer School offers local and international students an international learning environment and opportunities for quality cultural exchange during the summer. Academics from CUHK and renowned overseas universities have been invited to teach in the School. In addition to Putonghua and Cantonese courses, a number of much sought-after courses in business, humanities and social science with an Asian or Chinese perspective are offered. - City University of Hong Kong Summer Research Internship Program
Programme description:The Colleges of Science and Engineering have an overseas internship scheme to provide students with an opportunity to experience scientific research related to their studies. In addition to the research experience, additional cultural workshops and an industrial visit are provided to give participants a brief understanding of industrial establishments in Hong Kong as well as a taste of Chinese culture. The programme aims to provide students with the opportunity to conduct a research project which will expand their horizons and allow them to apply their knowledge in a practical setting.

- Hong Kong University of Science and Technology International Summer Exchange Program (ISP)
Programme description: The ISP welcomes students from partner institutions to study at HKUST over the summer. The programme aims to create a rewarding exchange experience for students from around the world. The programme comprises of high quality courses taught by HKUST academics and opportunities to participate in local excursions that provide insight into the region.

- Nanyang Technological University GEM Trailblazer Summer
Programme description: GEM Trailblazer Summer is tailored to prepare global talents to be future-ready for the Asian century. - National University of Singapore FASStrack Asia Summer programme
Programme description:The National University of Singapore with the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) is delighted to offer FASStrack Asia: The Summer School in June 2020, which will take place in Singapore, one of the most modern and dynamic cities in the world. With Asia in the world’s spotlight as it undergoes rapid growth, the summer programme will tap into our research strengths in the region and offer students an enriching knowledge and understanding of various Asian-related topics and issues. Taught over a 5-week summer period, students will attend classes, participate in active discussions and learn from academic experts specializing in their area of study. - Tecnologico de Monterrey iSummer Mx programme
Programme description: i Summer MX is a program designed for international students who love traveling and learning about new cultures.
Students will live in four vibrant cities in Mexico. The Santa Fe district in Mexico City, the colonial city Queretaro, the industrialized Leon and the modern business and industrial center in Monterrey. They will make everlasting memories exercising their intellectual curiosity and developing entrepreneurship, innovation and leadership skills, in a multicultural setting.During their stay in Mexico, students will learn about different parts of the country without ceasing their studies. - Stony Brook Global Summer Instiute in Stony Brook, NY
Programme description: The Global Summer Institute allows visiting international students the opportunity to enroll in academic courses at Stony Brook. All students are required to enroll in a minimum of six (6) credits and will be awarded a full housing scholarship for the summer. Students in the Global Academic Program are eligible to participate in our GSI cultural excursions.
Stony Brook University has a wide variety of courses across multiple academic departments and disciplines. Admission to some courses is subject to department review, in order to ensure that students have satisfied the course entry requirements. .

- Zurich University of Teach Education Summer School 2020
Programme description: PH Zurich is proud to offer you another top-quality summer course in education. You will be able to gain an insight into the Swiss education system, its possibilites and its issues. Each of these courses lasts two weeks, starting on Sunday afternoon, 14 June and finishes on Friday evening, 26 June 2020. It is open to students in educational sciences and/or teacher education.
There will be 2 tracks you could choose from:
1) Special needs and inclusive education in Switzerland
2) Health promotion and violence prevention in schools.
