UCL is required to provide The Higher Education Statistics Agency with information related to students and you are entitled to a copy of the data they hold on you.
The Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) was established in 1992 to collect statistical information from Higher Education Institutions and to provide it to the Higher Education funding councils and the Government.
In common with all other higher education institutions in the UK, UCL is required to provide HESA with information relating to undergraduate and graduate students. Your record will be added to a database which will be passed to the central government departments and agencies and devolved administrations which require it to enable them to carry out their statutory functions under the Education Acts. It will also be used in anonymised form for statistical analysis by HESA and the above bodies resulting in publication and release of data to other approved non-statutory users. These may include academic researchers and commercial bodies.
HESA is governed by the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998. Under the Data Protection Act you have the right to a copy of the data held about you by HESA.
