Bultitude Represents EU at AAAS

22 February 2012

Dr Karen Bultitude was recently part of a European delegation to the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) annual meeting in Vancouver, Canada.  For the past few years the European Commission has supported a small number of specialist seminars and workshops showcasing European expertise in science communication; this year Karen contributed to a provocative session entitled Everyone's an Expert but who is listening?.  Karen provided an analysis of international best practice in public participation in research and policy decision-making processes, as well as an overview of existing large scale work in this area within the UK.  The session proved to be one of the most popular strands within the conference, and prompted much discussion and wider interest.
