PhD Student Joins Astronomers

STS PhD student Mr Hsiang-Fu Huang has been elected a Fellow of the prestigious Royal Astronomical Society (RAS). Usually, RAS fellowship is intended for scientists who carry out astronomical research. Hsiang-Fu’s doctoral research involves the popularisation of astronomy in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, as the discipline (and many others) professionalised. He is a worthy addition to the RAS’s 3500-plus membership. His commitment to be involved in astronomy outreach in his homeland of Taiwan was also appreciated. As a historian and populariser, Hsiang-Fu now joins the likes of Sir Patrick Moore and Dr Alan Chapman. Congratulations
