New publications from STS's Jack Stilgoe

Following his recent appearances on both BBC and ITV to discuss self-driving cars, STS's Jack Stilgoe has two new pieces available to read - both publicly accessible!
Firstly, 'We need new rules for self-driving cars' has been published in Issues in Science and Technology. Covering the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) in Virginia, their response to the recent Tesla incident, and the first ever death by electric vehicle in the 19th Centur, Jack discusses how governments might wish to look at regulation in the future.
His second piece, in Social Studies of Science, looks at the algorithms behind the cars, and asks ‘Who is learning, what are they learning and how are they learning?’In the piece, Jack argues argue that trajectories and rhetorics of mechine learning pose a substantial governance challenge.
