STS offers degrees at each university level: undergraduate, masters, and PhD

2019/20 STS Modules - now online!

21 June 2019

To help students and applicants select their module choices for 2019/20, the department has created a series of short videos discussing their module content.

Module Catalogue

In the past, departments have held module fairs early in the academic year, in order for students to find out about their available module choices for the coming year. As of last year, STS decided to provide their module information in the form of a series on online videos, so that students could find this information in advance of their arrival on campus.

Following on from a successful polit last year, the 2019/20 Module Video Playlist is now available via the department's YouTube channel. Currently we have 19 videos, covering modules from all three years of the undergraduate degrees, plus the postgraduate masters courses - Incoming first year students can find out about six of their eight compulsory modules. Additional videos will follow over the course of the next few months, and we hope to have the vast majority of modules covered by the end of July.

For students going into their 2nd and 3rd years, you will be able to make your initial module selections via Portico from August 1st onwards. Incoming first year students have only compulsory modules, so have no choices to make at this point, but can prepare themselves for the kind of material they will encounter. New MSc students will have to wait until they register in September to make their choices, but can prepare in advance.

For further details about our range of modules, you can find the module syllabi and catalogue on our HPSC Modules page. The module playlist for 2018/19 is also available - please note that several of these modules are not running in 2019/20, but may return in subsequent years.
