Promoting science, technology and innovation in Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda

Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) expertise is needed in low and middle-income countries (LMIC), but little is known about what is needed and how this would work in LMIC contexts

This project investigates the current knowledge systems in three African countries to determine how best to produce and mobilise knowledge, and determine approaches for effective investment of capabilities and knowledge in the region. 

Taking a methodological approach, the project aims to: review existing evidence and approaches, map and describe each of the countries’ knowledge systems, analyse political economies, develop economic investment cases for STI investment, and identify practical actions to strengthen the knowledge economy.  

This recently added project compliments other projects on decision-making for the 21^st century in the department, where current academics and researchers are working to bring people and knowledge together across disciplines to inform public decision-making in a creative and innovative way.
