What attracted you to the Department of STEaPP at UCL?

The multidisciplinary nature of the course and the faculty. As a biology student with a passion for policy, I felt at home where other programmes were more traditional.

What was your favourite aspect of your course?

The variety of content to discuss and the practical nature of the assessments.

What did you enjoy most about studying in London?

The vibrancy of the city.

Please provide your current job title and the name of your organisation.

Communication Advisor at the European Parliament.

Please provide a brief summary of your role and the skills that you use.

As an advisor in the Directorate-General for Internal Policies of the Union at the European Parliament, I work on how to communicate the legislative work of the policy committees and departments to Members of the European Parliament and wider stakeholders. The critical thinking skills I developed at STEaPP are essential for me when assessing how to build connections and and understand how and why we follow certain process and procedures. The theoretical knowledge on public administration also really prepared me for working within an international public administration.

How has your degree at STEaPP shaped your experiences since leaving UCL?

It truly expanded my interests and helped me build a network.

What advice would you give to current or prospective students?

Embrace the multidisciplinary approach and understand that every background has something to contribute.
