UCL has partnered with the Met Office to advance the science of weather and climate prediction. This collaboration includes academics from the Department of Statistical Science through the Met Office Academic Partnership (MOAP), and recent research shows how machine learning could help us design more efficient offshore wind farms.

UCL Hacking the Climate

The hackathon’s aim was to provide an opportunity for teams of students to analyse and visualise aspects of the Met Office’s UKCP18 climate projections. These are the outputs from the projects carried out.
