Module description
This module aims to introduce methodological, theoretical and applied foundations of some widely-used classical multivariate methods and modern high-dimensional methods.

Prerequisite knowledge
STAT0046 is primarily intended for students within the Department of Statistical Science (including the MASS programmes). The academic prerequisite for these students, in addition to their (other) compulsory modules, is STAT0023 (UG) or STAT0030 (PGT).
For outside students, the following modules are considered sufficient alternative prerequisites: both of STAT0028 and STAT0030
Registration process
STAT0046 is offered as an elective to Masters students. Prospective elective students who have taken the alternative prerequisite modules listed above should simply register for STAT0046 on Portico and await a decision. Prospective elective students who have taken courses equivalent to the listed modules must additionally consult a member of staff in the Department of Statistical Science.
