Get a new ID card (Replace a broken ID card)

The Andrew Huxley Building (close to the Gordon Street entrance) is open Monday to Friday between 9am and 4:45pm. Use this page for guidance on how to book a replacement ID card online.

Before you start

You should know that:

  • A £15 administration fee is charged for a replacement card unless the card has failed or expired, or because the information on the card has changed (providing that the current card is returned to the UCL Security ID issue team).
  • The UCL ID card remains the property of UCL and must be returned to UCL Security at the end of your contract or course. The card is non-transferable and must be used by the named cardholder only.
  • Permanent members of staff (orange banner cards) get five cards before they need to pay for replacements. Contractors (black banner cards) get two cards before they need to pay for replacements.
  • To add any specific building access rights, authorised signatories should email securitysystems@ucl.ac.uk.

You will need:

  • ID (such as a passport or Driver’s Licence). Your photograph will be taken at the desk.
  • £15 (if you have to pay for your replacement card).
  • To book your collection time at the Andrew Huxley centre.
1. Contact Security to report the card

If you find an ID card, please report it to Security Systems who will deactivate it and contact the owner.

2. If you need to pay for your replacement card

It will cost £15 to replace a lost ID card. Please speak with Andrew Huxley reception staff before making a payment.

3. Book your collection time at the Andrew Huxley centre
4. Collect a new card from Security Systems

You will need to go to the Security Systems office and bring a piece of photographic ID such as a Passport, Drivers licence, BRP or EU ID card. Please note that we photocopies or digital copies are NOT accepted.
