Book an eye test

Members of staff who use display screen equipment (DSE) such as PCs and laptops can get free eye tests. Under UCL’s DSE eyesight testing scheme, managed by ASE (Eyecare Plans) Ltd, you can book an eye test at an Optician listed in the ASE Directory of Affiliated Opticians. Follow this guide to book an eye test.

Before you start

You should be aware that:

  • only permanent members of staff can get free eye tests.  
  • UCL will pay for spectacles when needed for DSE use only.  
  • you can get a 15% discount on private frames and lens upgrades. 
  • if you follow the process outlined in this task you will not have to pay for your eye test.

You will need:

  • your UCL user ID and password. 
  • your payroll number (found on your payslip).
1. Apply for an ‘Eye Test Pack’

To arrange for an eye test, you need to first apply for an Eye Test Pack by completing the form below.

2. Book an eye test

Once you receive your personalised Eye Test Pack book an eye test with an optician listed on the ASE Directory of Affiliated Opticians.
