Risk Management Essentials
Course Description:

This interactive on-line (3 part) course will explain how to manage risk as part of your everyday work at UCL. We will go through the steps of dealing with threats and opportunities and appreciate UCL’s approach to managing risk.  The course will include practical exercises in which you will try out some of the key concepts discussed either individually or in groups.

The course will cover:

  • The risk management process: what is risk and risk management?
  • Identifying, assessing and documenting risks
  • Selecting responses
  • People and risk
  • Risk management in the organisation and UCL's approach to risk management

NB: Participants must attend all three parts of this journeyed course, in order.

  • February/March 2023: 28 February, 2 and 6 March 10:00 - 12:15
  • April 2023: 19, 21 and 24 April 10:00 - 12:15

Objectives:

By the end of the course, you will have:

  • an understanding of the importance to UCL of managing risks effectively in all our roles
  • an understanding of the key methods of identifying, assessing and managing risks in your role
  • an appreciation of how and why individuals respond to risks differently
Intended Audience:

This course is for all those who need to think about and/or manage risk as part of their role at UCL whether in professional services, teaching or research.
