Supporting Effective Meetings
Course Description:

This course involves peer to peer learning. Please be aware that, for the benefit of all participants, participation in small breakout groups is part of this online course. Please ensure you join in an environment that allows you to speak out loud and fully interact with other course participants. A short, anonymous, pre-attendance survey will be used to understand challenges and inform session focus.

This bitesize online course will help you if you are already used to running meetings and want to learn how to make them as effective as possible. This course is all about accessing your informal power to:

  • Support your meeting chair
  • Ensure all participants feel included and able to contribute
  • Achieve the right outcomes as efficiently and effectively as possible

We will explore how to supercharge the basics from agenda preparation, structuring meetings, working effectively with the chair person, enabling attendee participation, enabling the right outcomes, helping follow through on agreed actions, avoiding bottlenecks.

This session will cover:

  • Explore expectations and assumptions around supporting meetings

  • Establish the areas of influence we have over meetings

  • Identify good practice and propose ideas for best practice


Objectives:

By the end of this course you will:

  • Understand you have more influence on the success of a meeting than you may have originally thought

  • Share good practice between colleagues

  • Access best practice templates for agendas and action logs
