DSD: Basic video editing using iMovie on a Mac (ISVEDM) 
Course Description:

During this session we will learn how to use 'iMovie' on a Mac desktop. You will need to have some video footage on your Mac so you can focus on learning to edit. We will cover importing and editing footage as well as transitions, titles and importing sound. I will then demo the process of exporting the final movie.

PREREQUISTES: It is essential that you already have some short video clips on your Mac ready to edit. Alternatively, there will a few sample video clips on Moodle which you?ll be able to download if you join the session 10 mins before the start of the course. If you wish to download the files prior to the course please access our Digital Skills Development Moodle course.

IMPORTANT: Please ensure you are using Desktop@UCL or the UCL VPN when booking because you need to be on the UCL network to use the system.

Once you have enrolled, you will need to click on the play button under 'My current enrolments' in My Learning to join at the time of the live session. You will also receive an email from ISD containing the direct joining link a day before the session. Please check your junk folder as these emails are occasionally tagged as spam.

We would encourage those who are new to Blackboard Collaborate/Microsoft Teams to join 15 minutes early in order to test out their connection/audio and help will be offered to sort out any problems. Participants are welcome to join any time within the first 15 minutes of the advertised start time. The actual session will start on the hour.
Objectives:
By the end of the course you will:
  • Be familiar with the basics of editing in iMovie.
  • Experience adding transition tiles and working with sound.

This course is aimed at those who want to learn the basics of editing video in iMovie and how to export the final film.
