DSD: Microsoft Teams Workshop 3: Document Management and Collaboration
Course Description:
This is the third in a series of four advanced Microsoft Teams workshops which aim to make you more confident and productive when working with Teams. This third workshop focuses on document management and best practices, offers useful tips and demonstrates the advantages of using the 'Open in SharePoint' feature.

This workshop assumes you are already using Teams and are familiar with the basics. If you are completely new to Teams or have only recently started using Teams please see the Prerequisites section below.

The workshops can be attended in any order. Workshop 1 focuses on posts, private chats, managing teams, customising your settings, many tips and more. Workshop 2 focuses on managing and participating in meetings. Workshop 4 focuses on Forms polling in channels, chats and meetings.

Once you have booked on the course you will be able to access all of the online materials in our Digital Skills Development Moodle course.

PREREQUISITES:

If you are new or relatively new to Teams please first attend the DSD: Microsoft Teams Introduction/Prerequisite course for Advanced Workshop.

IMPORTANT:

Once you have enrolled, please check that you have received a confirmation email from MyLearning. You will also receive an email with a joining link at least one day before the session.

Courses start on the hour but please join during the 5 minutes prior to this to download resources and test out your connection/audio.

Objectives:
At the end of this course you will familiar with:
  • Uploading and creating documents,
  • Sending email with attachments to a Teams channel,
  • Organising files,
  • Attach files to posts or a channel tab,
  • Editing in Teams, the browser or desktop app,
  • Co-edit files,
  • Check out a file so only you can edit,
  • Use private channels to limit access to certain team members,
  • Share files with people outside of your team,
  • Search for files,
  • Open file list in SharePoint for further file management features, e.g. recycle bin, site usage stats,
  • Access and restore file versions,
  • Set up notifications,
  • Use a Team notebook (OneNote notebook).
Intended Audience:
This workshop is aimed at those who are already familiar with the basics of Teams and with to learn how to collaborate more productively on files within Teams.
