DSD: Online social interaction platforms
Course Description:
UCL is exploring some of the emerging online social interaction environments that can support informal student interaction. This session will provide an overview of some of the key features of the emerging environments.

Online platforms will include:

  • Discord https://discord.com/
  • High fidelity https://www.highfidelity.com/
  • Gather Town https://gather.town/
  • Mozilla hubs https://hubs.mozilla.com/ You will have the opportunity to try out some of these environments during the session.

    Once you have booked on the course you will be able to access all of the online materials in our Digital Skills Development Moodle course.


    Please ensure you are using Desktop@UCL or the UCL VPN when booking because you need to be on the UCL network to use the system.

    Once you have enrolled, you will need to click on the play button under 'My current enrolments' in My Learning to join at the time of the live session. You will also receive an email from ISD containing the direct joining link a day before the session. Please check your junk folder as these emails are occasionally tagged as spam.

    We would encourage those who are new to Microsoft Teams to join within the first 15 minutes of the advertised start time in order to test out their connection/audio. The actual session will start on the hour.
