Russian with an East European Language BA Structure

Compulsory and Elective Modules for the Russian with an East European Language BA. All students must take 120 credits in each year of study.

East European Languages available; Bulgarian, Czech, Finnish, Hungarian, Polish, Romanian, Serbian/Croatian, Slovak and Ukrainian.

Year One

Compulsory Courses (45 credits)

SERS0001 - Comprehension of Russian  AND
SERS0002 - Use of Russian

OR (when Russian is post A level):

SERS0003 - Comprehension of Russian AND
SERS0005 - Use of Russian

PLUS

SERS0008- Russian Short Fiction from Romanticism to Postmodernism

30 credits from the following (pick two):

SERS0010 - The Making of Modern Russian Culture

SERS0012 - Representations of Russia

SERS0014 - Russian Cinema: History, Ideology and Society

Either (when Russian is ab initio):

Language Level 2 in chosen East European Language (30 credits)

Or (when Russian is post A-level)

Language Level 1 or 2 in chosen East European Language (30 credits)

Optional Courses (15 credits)

SERS0008: Russian Short Fiction from Romanticism to Postmodernism

Year Two
