Orlanda Obad

Orlanda Obad is a senior assistant at the Institute of Ethnology and folklore research in Zagreb. She obtained her BA in Spanish and Croatian language and literature from Faculty of Philosophy, University of Zagreb, and her MA in mass communication research from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (USA). Her doctoral thesis analysed the social perception of European Union in Croatia (European Union in Croatia: social perception from the perspective of postcolonial theory, 2011). She is approaching the notions related to the EU through the analysis of symbolic geography of the region and the whole European continent, and in her theoretical perspective she is primarily relying on the literature related to the so-called critique of Balkanism.
